Terms and Conditions

Play.Able Terms & Conditions

  1. Please supervise your children in Play.Able at all times. All play of borrowed items should also be closely supervised at home especially if it involves small parts. Play.Able will not be responsible for any injury or dispute due to negligence of parental supervision.
  2. Please do not come into Play.Able if you or your child is not feeling well.
  3. Food and drinks are not allowed in Play.Able.
  4. Parents will practise due diligence to maintain the items in good condition.
  5. Parents will adhere to rules for borrowing and pay fines for overdue, missing, and broken toys.
  6. Membership is not transferable.

Loan Period

Members are allowed to borrow up to 4 items (toys or interactive books/folder tasks or resource books. There is a cap of a maximum of 3 toys to be borrowed at any point of time) for a loan duration of 3 weeks. All items borrowed have to be returned before borrowing any other item.

Condition of items, loss and damage

Subject to ordinary wear and tear (judged entirely at Play.Able’s discretion), toys must be returned in the same condition as they were borrowed, clean and in a good state of repair. Toys are checked and cleaned on return.

A. Damaged Toys

  • We understand that toys are sometimes broken or damaged during the normal course of play.
  • Please do not attempt to repair damaged toys yourself.
  • Please tell the Play.Able Coordinator if a toy is broken or showing signs of wear and tear either by email (play.ablesg@gmail.com) or on return of the toy.
  • If a toy is damaged beyond repair, the committee will decide whether a fine will be charged to the member who damaged the borrowed toy – up to the value of replacement.

B. Missing Parts

The toy library will accept borrowed toys back provided any missing pieces do not affect the ability of the toys to be re-borrowed. However, a fine of $2 per missing item/piece will apply for which a $1 refund per item/piece will apply if the missing item is later found and returned.

C. Overdue Items

If a Play.Able item is returned late, an overdue fee of $1 per item per week will be charged. The overdue item fee is capped at $20 per member per overdue occurrence.

How to care for your toy at home:

  • Please designate a special place in your home where Play.Able toys will live while they are not being played with. This would ideally be a place separate from where toys you own are kept.
  • Please keep track of toy parts and pieces while playing and make sure all parts are accounted for when putting the toy away. You can view the components of each of the toys you borrow in the photo of the bag that it is in.
  • Please keep Play.Able toys away from food and beverages.
  • Please take good care of toys while they are in your care so that all children in our community may continue to enjoy them.
  • Members are asked to not clean toys in their own homes (to prevent damage to the toys), simply return the toy and we will take care of the rest! Because our toys are circulated around the community, they will need extra care and cleaning. We will use environmentally-friendly and child-safe methods to clean all of our toys.
  • If a toy in your care is exposed to a biohazard (blood, feces, vomit) please wash it in water first, then seal it in a plastic bag and inform our Coordinator when you return it so proper precautions can be taken.

Suspension of borrowing rights / termination of membership

If the member has outstanding charges, or items that are overdue for return, or failed to reimburse Play.Able for a lost or damaged item, the member’s borrowing rights may be suspended or their membership may be terminated. Play.Able reserves the right to suspend, terminate or re-admit members.

*Parents can choose to terminate their membership anytime and have their deposit refunded (as long as they do not have any outstanding charges or Play.Able items) by emailing: play.ablesg@gmail.com.
